Competition rules

   

1st prize - £200, 2nd prize £100 and 3rd prize £50.

The competition is open to all S4, S5 and S6 students in the school year 2007 - 2008.

A maximum of three entries per school will be allowed.

Essays must be 500 words (+ or - 5%) excluding references.

All entries are to be paperless and submitted through either the local participating Rotary Club or through Queen's Park Rotary Club via the Towards Harmony website. Essays must be in Microsoft Word (.doc) format typed in 12pt Times Roman, 1.5 line spaced. Essays must be supported by a completed application form. The author and supervising teacher must confirm the originality of the work and that it is free from plagiarism. References and quotations should be noted appropriately.

Closing date for entries to be lodged on the website is Tuesday 14th October 2008.

Reproduction rights of all entries are to be granted to Queen's Park Rotary Club. Intellectual property rights will remain with the author.

The prize winning entries will be announced and prizes presented at the event.

By submitting an essay an entrant will be deemed to have accepted the competition rules and agreed to participate in any appropriate publicity, press release and media interviews, including still and video photography, which may be published or broadcast through web or conventional media.

Essays require to be of an appropriate certificate standard

The competition will continue once more than 14 essays have been received.

 

Information for Rotary Clubs

All entries made through an individual club must be submitted via this website.

A rotary club may nominate a maximum of five essays for short listing.

This event provides an opportunity to raise public awareness of both your club and Rotary International.

  Ticket Allocation

  The Rotary Club of Queen's Park is delighted to facilitate this educational evening as a major public service event. All tickets are free, however, we anticipate that there will be considerable demand and participating clubs will receive priority after which tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

  Clubs participating in the competition will receive tickets by submitting a ticket request through this website.
